Please remember that tattoo removal can be a long journey. It’s crucial to maintain your health and diligently follow all aftercare instructions.
Due to the nature of laser science, not all lasers can remove all ink colours. Consequently, some colours may not be completely removed by my laser. We are committed to providing the safest and most effective treatment possible within our capabilities.
Below are some common questions to help you feel more informed and comfortable before beginning your removal journey.
Most tattoos can be significantly faded, and many can be fully removed through a series of treatments. While tattoo removal can be unpredictable, I will provide a quote based on all relevant factors. Some tattoos are easier to treat than others, depending on:
● Colour and type of ink used
● Depth of the pigment
● Age of the tattoo
● Location on the body, your general health, and whether you are a smoker or non-smoker
● Whether it was done professionally
● Adherence to aftercare
Professional tattoos typically require more sessions than amateur ones. We’ll discuss your unique case during your consultation so you know what to expect. For cover-up projects, we usually anticipate 2–4 sessions, depending on the tattoo’s colour density. If you wish, I can arrange a dual consultation with our tattoo cover-up artists to give you a clearer understanding of the entire process.
Laser tattoo removal can be uncomfortable, with many describing the sensation as similar to an elastic band snapping against the skin. However, pain tolerance varies from person to person, and we provide cooling to help manage discomfort. The good news is that laser sessions are very quick, and we can take as many breaks as you need.
We’ll also perform a test patch first to assess your pain tolerance and adjust the settings to make the experience more bearable while remaining effective. I’ll discuss pain management options with you during your consultation as well.
For small projects, we can conduct a consultation immediately before treatment to ensure there are no contraindications and that you understand the process. For small, mostly black tattoos, a picture sent to the tattoo removals specialist’s email or Instagram is sufficient. For larger projects, a FREE consultation is required before treatment. This is essential for your safety and helps us create the right plan for your skin and tattoo. During your consultation, we’ll cover:
● Expected results
● Estimated number of sessions
● Any medications, skin conditions, or health issues you need to disclose
● Your goals (full removal, lightening for a cover-up, etc.)
If everything looks good, we can often begin your first treatment right after the consultation!
After your laser treatment, the area may feel like a mild sunburn. You might notice:
● Redness, swelling, or itching
● Blistering (ideally this does not happen, but it may)
● Scabbing or light pinpoint bleeding
These side effects usually subside within a few days, though some symptoms can last longer depending on your body’s healing response. We will apply a soothing ointment and protective dressing after each session, and you’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions to take home.
For 48 hours after the session, drink plenty of water, treat the area as an open wound, and avoid the gym, sauna, pools, or spas. After 48 hours, maintain a healthy diet and exercise, and KEEP THE TREATED AREA OUT OF SUN EXPOSURE! If you cannot cover the treated area, always apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
Proper aftercare is crucial for optimal results, preventing infection, and minimising the risk of skin changes.
While very rare, there’s a small chance of:
● Temporary changes in skin pigment (either lighter or darker)
● Scarring, which is uncommon but possible—especially if aftercare instructions aren’t followed closely
Rest assured, I’m trained to prioritise your skin’s health every step of the way.
